Mary D’s Dog training has combined the skills needed to pass the tests offered by either International Therapy Dog or Pet Partners (Delta Therapy Dogs). During the six weeks of classes your pup learns how to deal with medical equipment and other types of equipment; from wheelchairs, walkers, mop & bucket to walkers. The first lesson is to introduce the dog how to be around this type of equipment. By week five the dog will be able to handle the medical equipment coming at them, from the front or behind and even remain in a down-stay while the equipment bumps into them. Even if you don’t want your dog to be a therapy dog, at the end of six weeks your dog will have the confidence to deal with most any new situation that they are faced with while out and about.
***Mary D's Dog Training is now working with 2 Therapy Dog Organizations to get your dog certified as a therapy dog!***
This is a fun class for the dog and an introduction to the power of clicker training for the pet parent. There are 3 major skills the dog will learn in this class: turn on/off the lights, put their toys away, and beginning scent training. Dog size and age does not matter. Every dog should have a little fun in their life and every pet parent should have fun with their dog too. During the six weeks of class, you will find that your dog has an aptitude for one of these skills over another and will have fun completing the task.(Requires at least 2 obedience classes before joining this class).
How would you like your dog to enjoy music and movement? This class takes everything the dog has learned in the previous six classes and puts it to a well-choreographed performance. This is not dancing; this is a class that shows off how smart you and your dog are. Pick a song, pick commands, and put them together for a fun routine to entertain guests at your house. From “take a bow” to “leg weaving” and complex spins and turns, this class combines it all.
